Medical and Clinical Leadership, Management & Governance
Lead the Clinical Unit consisting of a team of nurses, technical and administrative staff, supported by the Clinical Management Team: Clinical Nurse Manager, Clinical Operations Manager, Clinical Quality & Training Manager and the Assistant to the Clinical Management Team
Ensure that all team members meet the standards of professional conduct and care required.
Maintain excellent professional standards in all aspects of duties, adhering to Unit dress codes and professional codes of conduct, and ensure the same is true for all Clinical Unit staff.
Ensure that all team members understand their personal and collective responsibility for the conduct of clinical trials, especially for the safety of subjects.
Liaise with local community to develop specialty networks
Expand CPU capabilities to enhance study offerings (patient access, study types, procedures)
Ensure that arrangements are in place to provide continuous medical and nursing coverage at all times.
Develop the clinical and non-clinical skills and contributions of all groups as necessary, including secondments of nursing staff to the physician group and the development of extended roles (e.g. Nurse Practitioners), taking on direct line management responsibility where necessary.
Communicate effectively with members inside and outside the Clinical Unit and facilitate collaboration with project management and other clinical staff to ensure the study requirements are met.
Regularly review and audit the standards and performance of team members, addressing any deficiencies.
Ensure that systems are in place for dealing with problems in the performance and conduct of team members.
