Description This is an ideal position for a Interventional Cardiologist looking for something short term. Come join a dynamic team at Fort Bliss Cardiology Department. The perfect candidate will Possess and maintain a valid unrestricted license in one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands and be able to obtain clinical privileges to practice medicine at the MTF where services are provided. Must have current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration number (certification) and must have a National Provider Identifier (NPI). Shall be a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy trained in the practice of medicine and who has successfully completed an accredited residency in internal medicine. The Contractor must have a minimum of one year of experience within the last year working as an Interventional Cardiologist. Shall be board-certified in Interventional Cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine or other equal certifying body. Shall have and maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS). Such certification must state that it is specifically for healthcare providers and approved/issued by the American Heart Association. Requirements. The Physician shall perform all procedures commonly performed by an Interventional Cardiologist. These shall be essentially the same duties as those required of any Medical Corps Officer or Government civil service provider of similar experience and in similar duty assignments. Some of the more common diagnoses/conditions the Physician can expect to encounter include Diagnostic cardiac catheterization, percutaneous coronary intervention, peripheral angiography, interpretation of transthoracic echo cardiograms, graded exercise tests, as well as performance and monitoring of electrocardiograms and Holter monitors. The Physician shall provide primary and specialty medical care, examination, and treatment for the sick and wounded within the the privileges as granted by the MTF Commander. The Physician shall provide medical care and treatment of communicable diseases and/or injuries. The Physician shall conserve health of patients by application of diversified knowledge of preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic medical and surgical procedures. The Physician shall seek advice of consultants when appropriate. The Physician shall instruct and monitor other medical personnel in care and treatment of patients to include non-therapeutic services such as physical examinations. The Physician shall initiate requests for tests, x-rays, and admissions to the medical treatment facility, as appropriate. The Physician shall follow-up on abnormal reports. Abnormal x-ray and lab reports received on patients seen by Physician shall be reviewed by the Physician at the time these reports are available for review. Each report shall be reviewed within one week of its receipt. The Physician shall prescribe medications, as appropriate, in accordance with the privileges and MTF rules and regulations. The Physician shall prepare and document appropriate history physical examinations, and diagnosis. Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with MTF directives and prepare such records and reports as may be required by the policy. Ensure all documentation and reports are legible and complete. The Physician shall review medical histories and progress of patients. Examine patients, make diagnosis of disease, disaster, or injury, and treat patient or prescribe a course of treatment. Abide by all facility rules, regulations, and policies. The Physician shall utilize paraprofessional staff as appropriate The Physician shall respond to cardiopulmonary arrest as appropriate The Physician shall make preliminary interpretation of radiographs to include MRIs and CT scans The Physician shall monitor in-patient progress. Physicians will, on a daily basis, monitor in-patients progress by physically examining/ observing the patient and reviewing and annotating the patients medical record/chart. Monitoring will continue until patient is discharged or until patients care is transferred to another service. If patient care is transferred to another service, Physicians will continue to serve as a consultant to the gaining provider for as long as the gaining provider deems necessary. When in clinic,Physician will maintain an average of 6 patient encounters per day. Physician will also be expected to maintain the relative value unit (RVU) which is the expected daily average for their specialty. MTF will regularly monitor and advise Physician of this average. Failure to meet the daily RVU average will result in Contractor being notified of non-compliance and efforts will be made by both the Contractor and the MTF to identify and rectify any conditions that impede the providers efficiency. If, after identification and correction of any contributing factors, the Physician is still unable to meet the RVU goals, the MTF may request that the Contractor replace the HCP.
