Description Job/Practice Description: Performing and documenting a preanesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient, including requesting consultations and diagnostic studies. Performing a thorough check of equipment. Selecting preanesthetic medications and fluids. Developing and implementing an anesthetic plan. Initiating the anesthetic technique, which may include general, regional, or local anesthesia, as well as monitored anesthesia care (MAC). Selecting, applying and inserting appropriate non-invasive monitoring devices for continuous evaluation of patient physical status in ASA 1,2,3,4,and 5 patients. Selecting, obtaining and administering anesthetics and adjuvant drugs and fluids necessary to manage the anesthetic care of the patient. Managing a patient’s airway and ventilation using current practice modalities. Facilitating emergency and recovery from anesthesia by selecting, administering, and ordering medications, fluids, and ventilatory support. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), tracheal intubation and management of airway emergencies, advanced cardiac life support (ACLS). Work Schedule: 0730-1600 is the most frequently used tour. However, 0730-1600 may be the required tour. Additional tours of duty may include 0730-1800, 0930-2000, and 1130-2000, operating room capability and as determined by departmental needs. If on call hours are required for Monday through Friday, call hours will be from 2000-0730. On call hours are required for weekends, call hours will be 0730-0730 for 24 hours Saturday or Sunday. Needs for CRNA contract coverage are usually 1-3 days and occasionally a full week. Needs are driven by the number of residents scheduled and the number of staff CRNAs who are employed. There is the occasional need for multiple providers in the same week. Qualifications: State license, ACLS and BLS, Certified by the Board of Anesthesiology. Minimum of 3 years experience in Anesthesiology service. Must be US Citizen and be proficient in both written and spoken English.
