Description SUMMARY Diagnoses and treats variety of diseases and injuries in general practice by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Provides primary care services to patients assigned to him/her by the Center in a manner in accordance with all Center standards of practice. Properly documents care provided in patient charts according to Center's Medical Records Manual, Standing Orders, and Principles of Practice. Physician shall complete such forms (inclusive of the Clinic's "Encounter Form") as required by Clinic business office in order for the Clinic to properly bill for all direct patient medical services performed. Provides input on program planning to the Medical Director and participates in the development of the Center's Health Care Plan. Serves as a member of the Professional Review Committee. Participates in provision of in service activities for clinic staff. May participate as speaker to various groups on health related issues. Acts as monitor for day to day activities performed by health care staff as they offer health services to the clients in cooperation with Medical Director. Provides input to the Medical Director from areas of patient care including patient care policies, peer review, medical records, pharmaceutical formulary and health maintenance protocols. May supervise up to three Physician's Assistants and/or Nurse Practitioners subject to the rules and regulations governing Physician's Assistants of the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners at the request of the Medical Director. Cooperate with the Center's authorized and adopted Peer Review procedure which will periodically review the Physician's charts for diagnosis and treatment of all patients assigned to him/her. Follow and abide by the ethics of the medical profession and all federal, state and local laws and ordinances applicable to his/her practice. Provide on call coverage for providers outside the Center as required to establish reciprocal coverage for Physician's Center patients, if so assigned. Perform all other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
