Several opportunities for military-experienced physicians (MD or DO) or physician assistants/nurse practitioners who are skilled and experienced in the processes related to Veterans Affairs (VA) Schedule Ratings of Disability (VASRD) and relevant DoD and Service specific disability evaluation system (DES) regulations. The operation is based in Arlington, Virginia and physicians may work on a full time or part time basis (for a minimum of 20 hours per week).
This position will provide medical case workload adjudication support to our client. The purpose of this work is to reassess the accuracy and fairness of the combined disability ratings assigned all Service members who were discharged as unfit for continued military service with a combined disability rating of 20 percent or less and were not found eligible for retirement.
JOB DUTIES:
Perform medical case analysis on Department of Defense (DoD) physical disability ratings rendered by the respective Military Department and the Coast Guard
Utilize Occupational Medical knowledge and techniques to ensure thorough review of cases
Perform initial internal review of case folders to ensure all medical documents are provided to ensure staff have the ability to fairly adjudicate a fair and final disability rating recommendation
Prepare and present draft record of proceedings for adjudicators
Interpret Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Schedule Ratings of Disability (VASRD) and relevant DoD and Service specific disability evaluation system (DES) regulations
Utilize medical knowledge and capability to understand each Military Department and Coast Guard Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) construct and process to ensure an efficient transfer of relevant information and synergy to the PDBR adjudicative and analytic process
Interface with high-level medical representatives from a variety of government, military and legislative offices.
