Responsibilities:
The goal of the General Surgery Program Director (PD) is to assure that the requirements of the Residency
Review Committee in Surgery and the ACGME are appropriately administered and adhered to by the teaching faculty. These requirements include, but are not limited to:
•Establishing an educational conference schedule
•Assuring that all components of the training program are properly evaluated
•Completing the semi-annual evaluation of all trainees
•Overseeing duty hour compliance
•Overseeing remediation and probation issues
•Policy development
•Establishing the Clinical Competency Committee and assuring resident progress
•Monitor the case logs of the trainees
•Oversee the resident application and selection process
•Oversee the new resident orientation
•Assure appropriate scholarly activity from the trainees
•Assure faculty development
•Serve as a representative to the GMEC
Qualifications:
•New York State License
•Board Certified in General Surgery
Preferred Qualifications
•Duly Licensed to practice Medicine in the State of New York
•5 years job related experience
