Excellent locum tenens job opportunity for a Hematology/Oncology doctor in Texas. Large 233-bed regional medical center is looking for vacation coverage during the summer of 2011. Cancer center is expanding and adding a second physician. For the right candidate, this can become a permanent position. This newly built state-of-the-art cancer center has a seven Chemo chair infusion center. You will see 15 PPD. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM. The required procedures include: Chemotherapy, Bone Marrow Aspirations, Needle Biopsy, Treatment of Anemias, Lymphomas, Carcinomas, and Bleeding Disorders. The highly skilled support team includes three Oncology RNs who administer the Chemo, Dosimitrist, Physicist, and admin staff. No call or weekend call required. A typical day includes treating patients at the infusion center, seeing new consults (3-4 per day), and rounding on patients in hospital. This location is famous for its dry climate. It is rich in western history and Texas folklore. Visit military museums from the post-Civil War era to WWII flight centers once used for training fighter pilots. Excellent parks and biking trails abound. A major Texas university provides great cultural activities. Eighty miles from Abilene or Midland; San Antonio is 2.5 hours.
