Obtain medical history of acute and chronic illness; perform physical examinations and determine the need for and order appropriate laboratory and radiology tests; interpret results and make a critical evaluaton to determine diagnosis and prognosis; initiate treatment and therapy and provide follow-up as needed; provide complete and appropriate instructions regarding medications, limitations and follow-up plans. Perform minor surgical procedures and suturing. Seeks advice of supervising physicians and consultants as appropriate. Perform life saving emergency procedures in order to stabilize patients; provides immediate definitive medical care to reduce emergency situation and enable the patient to continue care as an outpatient with follow-up care as required; supervises ancillary personnel and makes appropriate referrals to Emergency Medicine physicians and specialty physicians.
