Hospitalist program in Arizona has a job opportunity for locum tenens coverage starting in August. August 25th through September 18th; single coverage, 8a-4p, with off-site call coverage in the evening. When the locums is done, they can leave the facility for the day and be on beeper call in case of emergencies or admits. Locums will still be paid a full daily rate even if they only have to work on-site for four hours each day. Low patient census of 7-10 on average, with the max of 14 patients per day. While on call, the Hospitalist will handle admits from ER and Primary Care, then follow-up with patient the next morning. Low acuity; no ICU procedures required. High acuity patients will be transferred to a larger facility in the area. Hospitalist will respond to codes for own patients. If after hours, they will not be required to respond to codes. Nurses typically handle low acute patients after locums physician leaves; the locums physician will be called in for more high acute patients or if their patient codes. ER physician will typically handle codes, unless it is locums patient.
