Work in daytime will involve rounding on inpatients, and providing internal medicine consults on non medicine patients. Hospitalists also respond to code situations. A typical work day involves up to 10 direct encounters daily. If rounding on weekend, all internal medicine inpatients and IM consults will need to be covered, typically with coverage of 15-20 patients.
