Allergy & Immunology Job Details Apply for Job
Description 1. The employee will cover all hospitals from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. for 15 – 16 nights/month. The variation occurs depending on if there are 30 or 31 days in the month. The average will be 15 nights/month. 2. The employee will respond to all pages pertaining to patients already admitted into the above hospitals and provide bedside patient care to any patient requiring transfer to the ICU or whose clinical condition has worsened. 3. The employee is expected to provide comprehensive bedside care with accompanying complete orders, admit note, and H&P on all new patients admitted to Hospitalist Group. 4. The employee will accept all appropriate admissions from the emergency room and make all the necessary arrangements to admit patients directly to the hospital that originate outside of the emergency room. 5. It’s expected that the employee will average greater than or equal to 9 admissions/night worked. 6. It’s expected that the employee will accept new admissions from the day time hospitalist as there are times that he/she are overwhelmed with new admissions. 7. The coverage of the nights will be in blocks of 10 nights, or 15 (16) nights depending on the agreement of the covering nocturnists. There will be a minimum of 5 days off between blocks of nights. Whatever coverage arrangement is made that arrangement will be used going forward and only altered if all nocturnists & HOSPITALIST GROUP agree. If no agreement can be made by the covering nocturnists then HOSPITALIST GROUP will decide. Every effort should be made to admit all the patients during the night. HOSPITALIST GROUP understands the geographic challenges, pager demands, and potentially large volume of admissions. The employee shouldn’t be sitting at home accumulating admissions and passing them on to the daytime hospitalists. 8. The employee will call the administrators mobile telephones at 6:00 a.m. to provide details pertaining to the number of admissions at each hospital and how many were seen before and after midnight and how many weren’t seen. 9. The employee will sign out all patients on the telephone message system, after each night call, before 7:00 a.m. and call any daytime hospitalist with any complex patient.
