Our client has a job opportunity for a locums Hospitalist at their central Montana facility starting in August and continuing until a permanent Hospitalist is identified for their team of six physicians. The ideal candidate is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, with a strong comfort level in performing ICU procedures such as central lines, vent management, and intubations. For this job, the Hospitalist will actually function as an Intensivist, so running codes and rapid responses will be a part of the responsibilities, in addition to rounding, consulting, and handling admissions and discharges. The schedule is a Saturday through Friday rotation; 7 on/off and 7A - 5/6P and 5P - 7A. Since this is a 24/7 in-house program, there's no beeper call and the physicians will predominantly work day shifts with a week of nights every 14 weeks or so. Day shift details include double and sometimes triple coverage, because sometimes they have a third Hospitalist handling a swing shift to cover ICU and admissions. Typically, the dual coverage physicians will see 15-20 ppd, which includes 1-10 admissions per day. There's lots of sub-specialty support during the day, with the exception of Neuro and Cardiology; those patients will be transferred to a nearby facility. Night coverage is solo with approximately 40 patients on the floor with plenty of Emergency Department support on-site and sub-specialty support available via call. Important to note: this client would love to find a Hospitalist who would like to work a locums to permanent situation, so if that's something you've considered, this is a great program! Credentialing can be done on a temporary privileges basis within two weeks, but standard privileges with a clean background takes about 30 days. The pay is really great for this job and when you are not working, the community offers a ton of outdoor sports, museums, the symphony, and a variety of performing arts. Don't wait on this one!
