We are currently seeking a CMIO for our for-profit hospital, which is located in the Maryland/DC area.
Job Description:
The primary purpose of the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) position is to oversee the development, implementation and optimization of clinical information system initiatives. Specifically the CMIO will facilitate the use of evidence based medicine and tools to develop clinical protocols, physician documentation templates and decision support rules in conjunction and consensus with physicians and the needs of quality reporting.
Responsibilities:
Very strong interpersonal skills are needed to communicate with physicians and drive consensus amongst physicians, nursing, pharmacy, and other stakeholders in protocol development. Maintains professional approach in all situations. Maintains confidentiality of patient and business information.
Establish a close working relationship with the Medical Staff to facilitate clinical information systems.
Communicates with project leaders, other analysts, clinical leadership and users to develop system requirements and solutions.
Lead and develops clinical protocols and documentation specifications using evidence based medicine through consensus building with physicians and other clinical departments.
Develops and performs feedback loop for assessing effectiveness of protocols and updates that may be needed.
Mentors team members as necessary and informs leadership team of all events pertaining to the operations of assigned applications and projects.
Requirements:
MD or DO with an active and current medical license
This position requires extensive exposure to clinical protocol development and clinical decision support using electronic health records systems.
One or more years of experience implementing and supporting electronic record applications.
Prior work experience in a nursing or other clinical environment.
