Description The Chief Medical Officer, reporting to the hospital managing director, and working in partnership with the hospital executive team and medical staff officers, will provide leadership and overall direction for medical staff affairs, credentialing and privileging, clinical quality, patient safety, quality measurement, peer review, infection prevention, and risk management. MD or DO required; successful graduation from an accredited medical school and residency program. Board Certification required. MBA or similar management degree preferred (or underway). Licensed or eligible by the state of California to practice medicine. Advanced training in quality improvement and patient safety preferred. Proven physician executive with a minimum of 10 years clinical practice experience and 5 years senior executive leadership. Often described as the physician’s physician, the successful candidate will embody and demonstrate a collaborative approach to achieving deliverables. He/she will be able to successfully work with administrative and physician stakeholders to reach mutually desirable goals. Specific areas of expertise include, but are not limited to: medical staff affairs, bylaws, policies and procedures; quality, safety, and process improvement and outcome measurement; accreditation; and physician leadership development.
