Administers medical program for the Company at the assigned metropolitan or geographic area, in compliance with established policies, procedures and programs, including the selection and supervision of the activities of the required medical staff of nurses, technicians, and clerical personnel. Conducts post-offer physical examinations of locally selected applicants for employment; periodic and special examinations of flight crew personnel, management and other employees as necessary or requested. Examines and provides first-aid or emergency treatment for work-related illnesses/injuries of employees. Assists in emergency medical situations of enroute passengers via aeronautical radio. Re-examines disability cases periodically to verify progress; provides return to work clearances. Assists SAC with disabled passenger situations. Oversees the preparation and maintenance of required medical records and reports, including medical reports in connection with Worker's Compensation claims of employees as well as case histories, health examination reports, and other medical records. Provides medical advice to local management personnel and counsels employees on medical and health matters. Plans and recommends to supervisors medical programs designed to meet special local needs. Attends local and national medical meetings to maintain competence in the fields of aviation, preventive and occupational medicine. Plans and recommends to perform medical surveillance exams based upon Board certified or Board eligible Occupational Medicine, Medical Review Officer Certification preferred.
