Excellent locum tenens job opportunity for a Neonatologist in southeast Missouri. Level III NICU at a large regional hospital needs vacation coverage during January. The staff has two Neonatologists (one will be out), Pediatricians, Pediatric Hospitalists, and specially trained RNs. Locums provider needs to be BC/BE. Normal NICU procedures and C-sections; Neos only show up for pre-term, high-risk births when on call. Locums physician does not have to stay in the hospital. Average census is six. NICU staff can provide oxygen therapy, antibiotics, IVs, and NG tube feedings. The staff is trained to take care of umbilical vessel catheters, chest tubes, infusions of fluids, blood or lipids; oxygen support such as ventilators, nasal cannulas, CPAP or oxygen hoods; feeding problems requiring special equipment; and monitoring infant heart and respiratory rates or blood pressure and performing exchange transfusions. The NICU also operates a highly trained Neonatal Transport team. The location is a charming river town, home of a university and less than two hours southeast of St. Louis.
