OB/GYN needed in the Palm Springs, CA area
Busy three member OB/GYN group located in growing resort desert community of 600K+K seeking additional member; group does almost 100 deliveries/month; Level II NICU; employment model; competitive salary with full benefits. Two Regional Medical Center (387 beds) and local hospital (155 beds) (about 28 miles apart) each deliver approximately 3,500 babies a year. Medical Center has a well-established Maternal Fetal Medicine Program and a 32 bed NICU. Medical Center\'s general Pediatric unit has 14 beds; hospital has 24. There is no PICU in the area; the closest PICU is at Loma Linda University Medical Center about 50 miles away. Managed care penetration here is approximately 35%. There are 4 HMOs/IPAs in the valley.
The valley is surrounded by mountains; the San Jacinto and Santa Rosa mountains were designated a National Monument in 2000. Medical Center is at the base of Mt. San Jacinto, which is almost 11,000\' in elevation; there is an 80 person tramway to a mountaintop station, miles of hiking and horseback riding trails, and cross country skiing on the mountain. There are many other outdoor activities available in the valley, including golf, tennis and biking, as well as many social and cultural amenities, such as live theater, museums and great restaurants that are unexpected bonuses in a community of this size. Shopping includes the famous El Paseo Drive, a local 2 story mall, and a 200+ store outlet mall within 20-30 minutes of Palm Springs.
Each of the nine cities in the Coachella Valley has its own personality and culture; incomes and ages cover a wide range. Palm Springs is no longer a retirement community, but the mainstay of a thriving local economy. The primary industry in the Western end of the valley (Palm Springs) is tourism. Mid-valley cities (Palm Desert, Indian Wells, Rancho Mirage and LaQuinta) range from very wealthy retirees to professionals with families; the majority of retail business is located in the mid-valley. Eastern-most cities (Indio, Coachella) are more agricultural in nature.
