Description The Surgical Pathologist is a key role within the Pathology organization. This individual will join our expanding laboratory facility in Los Angeles and Manhattan, which is engaged in the performance of complex multitechnology laboratory testing for diagnostic and prognostic/therapeutic information in the area of surgical pathology of solid tumors.The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Surgical Pathology with the application of IHC ,FISH and Molecular Genetics Technologies as needed for the interpretation of such cases. Experience with FISH and other molecular techniques is highly valued.The successful candidate will work closely with our other laboratories across the country, which offer state- of- the- art facilities with integrated cutting edge technologies in the areas of Immunohistochemistry, Flow Cytometry, Molecular Genetics, Cytogenetics and FISH. This individual will provide input in the decision- making process regarding utilization of state-of-the-art technologies, as well as innovative diagnostic or therapeutic testing in Surgical Pathology. The candidate will also participate as a subject matter expert in teams responsible for new product or technology development. The selected individual will be able to effectively participate in several functions in the day-to-day operations, including case consultation sign out responsibilities with full time availability to interact with our clients for Pre-Analytical, Analytical, and Post-Analytical questions. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal, communication, and partnering skills that will allow effective interaction with employees at all levels, with Medical and other laboratory professional peers throughout sites, and with clients, client services and sales professionals. Being persuasive and leading to consensus, and a commitment to the highest standards of excellence in the laboratory industry are paramount in this position. The ideal candidate will also participate in the successful implementation of the common goals of the Medical Laboratory operations and site Senior Management. In addition to diagnostic clinical service work, the selected Pathologist will be encouraged to participate in the scientific endeavors of ours through participation on paper presentation at national medical conferences and publication of papers, book chapter or books utilizing the rich material available to our pathologists. The successful candidate will also periodically represent us in strategic medical meetings and will have the opportunity to participate as a speaker in sponsored symposia. Frequent interaction with our large, dynamic sales force is a strategic role played by our Pathologists. Periodic travel for sales field visits in multiple regions across the country for direct interaction with clients, presentation in tumor boards or Medical Societies are part of a periodical rotation with other members of the medical staff. Focused and proactive participation in the company quality initiatives and process improvement projects will also be an important requirement in keeping with the division's strategic vision of our recently implemented Six Sigma Program.
