Description

Harlem Hospital Center provides a wide range of medical, surgical, diagnostic, therapeutic, and family support services. The hospital is a 286 bed acute care facility and a designated Level 1 Trauma Center, with a full spectrum of specialty services, including a burn unit, an adult intensive care unit, a neonatal intensive care unit, a pediatric intensive care unit, stroke and a cardiac care unit.


The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine of the Department of Pediatrics at Harlem Hospital Center, New York is seeking one full-time PEM Physician .

The Department of Pediatrics is a growing and dynamic department with many opportunities for creative, energetic individuals.  There are many avenues for career development and administrative participation.

Our Pediatric Emergency Department currently cares for 22,000 patients annually. Attending coverage hours are 38 hours per day during the week and 36 hours on weekends with Pediatric Attending coverage 24 hours per day. Physician Assistants(PAs) are also present on all overnight shifts.


PED division members supervise and teach Pediatric Residents , PA students, and Medical Students.  Department members are eligible for appointments at Columbia University Medical School.   Participation in research, teaching and administrative activities will be part of this position. PEM faculty members maintain an excellent rapport with General ED faculty  - many of whom also cover PED shifts.

The PED is located in a separate area from the general ED in a child-friendly environment with dedicated PED nurses and support staff. Child Life services are available in the hospital.  We anticipate a move to a new 15+ bed PED in Fall 2013!

Qualifications:
•Board Certified/Eligible in Pediatric Emergency Medicine
•NYS license

•Superior leadership skills
•Bilingual English and any second language a plus
