Pediatric Inpatient and Critical Care Service
The Pediatric Inpatient and Critical Care Service (PICCS) at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina is recruiting a pediatric critical care specialists or a Board Certified pediatrician with extensive critical care experience.
The PICCS is staffed by two full-time pediatric critical care specialists. The medical staff is assisted by mid-level providers. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is an 8-bed unit that serves the critical care needs of medical, surgical, and trauma patients in the pediatric department. Plans have been drafted for a new unit in the next phase of hospital construction.
CFVMC is a 765-bed regional medical center that serves Fayetteville, Cumberland County and southeastern North Carolina. The Center includes an 8-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, a 44-bed, level III NICU, and a 28-bed Pediatric Unit. The Family Birth Center delivers 4,500 infants annually. The 28-bed Pediatric Unit meets the needs of the general pediatric population. The Pediatric Emergency Department has 17 beds and is staffed by full-time pediatric emergency medicine specialists.
This opportunity places strong emphasis on clinical services and program growth. Responsibilities include clinical coverage of the PICCS, participation in program development, and teaching and supervision of family practice residents. Clinical services provided by the PICCS include; coverage of the PICU, the pediatric hospitalist service, and an inpatient procedural sedation service. Coverage will be shared with other members of the Service.
Fayetteville is situated in the Sandhills Region of North Carolina, sixty miles south of Raleigh, the state capitol. It is known for its mild winters with an average annual temperature of 63 degrees and is surrounded by many of the finest golf courses in the nation, including the famed Pinehurst No. 2. State highways link it to some of the most beautiful beaches along the southeast coast and to breathtaking mountain views in the west. Interstate-95, a major north-south corridor, provides access to metropolitan centers such as Washington DC, and to major vacation, historical and tourist destinations along the entire Eastern seaboard.

The position requires that candidates are board certified in pediatrics and either BC/BP in pediatric critical care medicine; or possess extensive experience in pediatric critical care medicine.
