Pediatric Clinic is seeking a Board Certified/Eligible Pediatrician for a busy pediatric practice. Be one of 7 providers; the practice currently has 2 pediatricians and 3 PA’s, and 1 FNP. Share call with 3 pediatricians so call will be one week out of 4. The salary will be $150,000 plus bonus based on production to a maximum of $50,000. Benefits include Medical, dental and optical insurance for provider and his or her family as well as life, disability and pension for the provider. There is a minimum of 4 weeks off for vacation and it does increase depending on time in the practice. There is a $5000 allowance for continuing education. The call is one week out of 4 weeks. The average number on times called in per week is usually < 2-3 per week and some weeks none. The answering service screens calls to the nurse hotline and after hour calls vary depending on the time of year. Usually they get 3-6 during the summer per evening and night and 5-15 per evening and night in the winter. A cell phone is supplied and beeper for the calls. Calls after 11 pm are uncommon. They see children newborn to 21 years. They arrange for 18 yr olds to transition to an adult provider. About 35% of the practice is Hispanic with about half of those Spanish speaking only. They do simple suturing and splints and cast but no complex fractures. They do IV fluids and antibiotics in the office. They also attend Cesarean sections and high risk deliveries but all infants < 35 weeks are transferred prior to delivery if at all possible. They have about 30-40 inpatient pediatric patients per year. The clinic is open from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The on call physician rounds on all clinic patients on call days and starts clinic at 10:00 AM. They work 3 – 12 hour days per week and on Saturday they are on hospital call for the weekend. The clinic is open Saturday’s from 10:00 to 4:00 for walk-ins only. The clinic has 14 exam rooms and they have lab services available on site. X-rays are done at the hospital one block away. They also have 2-care coordinators who work with the children with complex health care needs. They also work with the schools and are priceless. They have two counselors on staff to see children for behavior problems or mental health issues. They also have a ½ time pediatric psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. They have an EMR and are paperless. They have satellite internet in the clinic and their local area has both wireless and high speed internet available. They also are active in teaching medical students. They have students from Oregon Health and Science University who rotate through our clinic. They also are involved with ORPRN, which is Oregon Rural Practice-based Research Network and participate in clinic research as well. One of their Physicians has been honored with the Rural Health Practitioner of the Year award for 2006 at the Oregon Rural Health Conference. Their local hospital has a 60 physician staff with most specialties available. They have pediatric specialties available one hour away, however, they also have a pediatric Cardiologist, endocrinologist and nephrologists who hold a clinic in the office regularly. They see all patients who present, irrelevant of their ability to pay. About 60 % of our practice is Medicaid, both Idaho and Oregon. We are a designated Rural Health Clinic.
