Two newly developed, innovative psychiatric opportunities have become available in the exciting city of Atlanta, GA! These stimulating positions were created as a collaborative agreement between the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health (DBHDD), Morehouse School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Morehouse School of Medicine’s Satcher Health Leadership Institute and Grady Behavioral Health System. The recruitment is for specialists with significant experience and training in treating the broad spectrum of adult illness shared by internal medicine and psychiatry. Dual Board Certifications or Board Eligibility in both primary care and psychiatry are highly preferred.
The psychiatrists will provide psychiatric diagnostic, treatment and consultative services to patients presenting to Georgia’s largest trauma hospital’s emergency room, they will serve Grady Hospital’s outpatient psychiatric clinical sites and serve outpatient primary care clinics in the community. While providing evidence based pharmacotherapy and psychotherapeutic interventions, provide training to medical and/or psychiatric staff and trainees on protocol and procedures for treating patients who present with medical and/or psychiatric needs, they will also educate patients on health care including health promotion, disease management, illness and accident prevention. The physician will also participate in multidisciplinary teams with nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapist, pharmacists, psychologists and other health care providers. The candidate will need to meet criteria for a faculty appointment at Morehouse School of Medicine at the rank of Instructor, Assistant or Associate Professor and criteria for an appointment to the medical staff at Grady.
