Associate Medical Director Mental Health
A as the Associate Medical Director Mental Health, in coordination with the Director of Behavioral Health and the Medical Director, you will be responsible for the development, implementation and assessment of quality psychiatric services for La Clinica de La Raza’s Mental Health Department, Casa del Sol. Your primary focus will be the direct provision of clinical services to patients. Your Administrative responsibilities will include supervision and oversight of Psychiatrists and Psychiatric Nurses working in the Mental Health Department.
Duties and Responsibilities You will:
• Provide direct psychiatry services including; psychiatric assessment/evaluations, diagnoses, administering psychiatric treatment, psycho-education, and medication education. You will develop treatment plans in collaboration with patients, their families, and the treatment team.
• Be medically responsible for MH patients; prescribe medications and monitor their effects. Be responsible for establishing and maintaining medical standards and policies for mental health clients; assure quality mental health services are provided; review all data essential to the diagnosis, treatment, evaluation, and discharge of assigned clients.
• Be responsible for documentation of all services provided according to legal and contractual standards. Document, sign, and authorize progress notes, assessments, treatment plans and forms that are required or appropriate for the client. (Includes SSI applications, medication applications, reports, etc.)
• Supervise and oversee psychiatrists and psychiatric nurses in the Mental Health Department.
• Be available to be contacted and consulted as needed during open clinic hours regarding patient care issues.
• Work with the Behavioral Health Director to insure services and procedures meet administrative requirement and legislative mandates relative to funding sources, and inform the medical director and Behavioral Health Director of measures taken to assure quality assurance program is maintained and periodically reviewed.
• Develop Psychiatric protocols and reviews department protocols of care for mental health services; establish and maintain a system of peer review for psychiatry services in coordination with the Behavioral Health Director and medical director.
• Coordinate with Primary Care Physicians regarding the overall healthcare needs of Casa del Sol patients.
• Provide consultation to La Clínica’s Primary Care Physicians regarding La Clínica medical patients.
• Perform such other duties assigned by supervisor.
