SETTING

Prescott's mile-high elevation, moderate climate, scenic vistas, parks, trails and so much more will provide you with a good feeling about the community. For a city of 43,000, there is a lot happening here! Regular big-city style entertainment is offered through such venues as Yavapai College and city cultural facilities. The variety of local restaurants is incredible, with a growing mix of recognizable national chains, too.

Shopping experiences are easily satisfied as well. Many love to poke through the myriad of antique shops, art galleries, and other specialty stores downtown, while finding larger department and retail stores in the area, too. Prescott is the hub of shopping for much of central Arizona.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Screen, evaluate, and admit/enroll patients to psychiatry programs.
  • Key psychiatric functions include a full spectrum of diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation services provided by qualified interdisciplinary staff in a safe and dignified setting with emphasis on least-restrictive approach. These include but are not limited to:
    • individual psychotherapy;
    • crisis intervention;
    • psycho-pharmacotherapy;
    • consultation/liaison;
    • Patient education.
  • Order diagnostic studies such as laboratory tests, x-rays, electrocardiograms, (EKGs), etc. including HIV tests and evaluate results of such tests.
  • Provide psychiatric Consultation-Liaison coverage, as assigned.
  • Conducting complete psychiatric evaluations (including the mental status evaluation).
  • Prescribe appropriate pharmaceutical agents for smoking cessation.
  • Initiate and refill prescriptions for all psychotropic.
  • Monitor and record patient progress.
  • Obtain consent for hospitalization, tests, & medications.
  • Carry out health promotion and disease prevention activities including education and shared decision-making.
  • Provide education and counseling of patients and families in preventive care, psychiatric conditions, and use of prescribed treatments and medications.
  • Write orders and notes in CPRS.
  • Administer and document Suicide Risk Assessment in CPRS.
  • Provide telephone consultation with patients and family members.
  • Limited marital and family counseling/therapy.
