Provides psychiatric assessment services for patient age 18 and older.. Provides psychiatric treatment & management services for a broad range of mental & emotional complaints affecting adults and their families. Provides consultation to the non-mental health care providers on the diagnosis & management of mental health and substance abuse/dependence issues. This may include consultations to patients hospitalized for general medical conditions or undergoing evaluation in the Emergency Department. Makes appropriate referrals & obtains appropriate consultation after initial evaluations have been completed. Provides clinical consultation on psychiatric issues related to specific patients to Counseling Service staff and other community behavioral health staff. Works closely and collaboratively with Chinle Service Unit staff across disciplinary boundaries in the support of patients. Coordinates care with other community agencies as appropriate and required. Provides crisis or emergency assessments and management for patients presenting with acute mental illness symptoms including adolescents and families as well as adults; and provides acute treatment and/or referrals as the initial assessments indicate. Documents services with efficiency and reliability using an electronic health record. Follows all relevant Chinle Service Unit policies, procedures and protocols and maintains practice in accordance with applicable standards and regulations as defined by the CSU Medical Staff, Joint Commission, CMS, licensing bodies and professional organizations. Participates in peer review activities as requested by the Director of Counseling Services. Maintains positive, professional and supportive relationship with peers, hospital staff and community members.
