The Acute Psychiatric Unit is comprised of 32 beds, 2 of which are restraint and seclusion beds and not generally occupied unless patient condition warrants. Workload for the Psychiatrist will be between 14-16 new and established Veteran referrals. The Psychiatrist shall perform clinical duties 5 days a week. Medical care includes psychiatric examination, general history, prescribing medications, Initiating and adjusting therapeutic regimens diagnosis, treatment, etc. The patient population requiring services may include inpatients and outpatients with a variety of mental disorders and diseases and may include inpatients in VA's acute care or intermediate care wards. All patient data, (history, evaluation, findings, recommendations, requests for laboratory and x-ray studies, etc.) shall be inputted into the patient's chart electronically.
