Job/Practice Description:
Locum Tenens Psychiatrist is to provide outpatient services. Will perform routine duties in the Outpatient General Mental Health Clinic and will uphold the standards of care as outlined by the Medical Center and Behavioral Health Care Line (BHCL) policies and procedures. Psychiatrist shall provide quality psychiatric care to a variety of patients whose ages may range from 17 years to 100+ years. Observes and provides for a safe environment for patients and others through monitoring, reporting, and taking protective precautions with any hazards once they are observed. Must possess knowledge and skill sufficient to understand psychiatric principles, practices and procedures, patient disease entities, medical equipment, medical materials, and supplies for the purpose of carrying out psychiatric care for a variety of patients in a GMH setting. Must possess knowledge of pharmacology. Must follow all facility requirements and policies, including but not limited to: informed consent, utilization review, infection control, and peer review activities. Must have knowledge sufficient to understand the patient’s medical record, medical history and Interdisciplinary Care Plan for the purpose of providing care. Perform reviews of Medical records for continuous quality improvement. Knowledge and skill sufficient to observe, identify and report the patient’s physical, psychosocial, and emotional status. Knowledge to contribute to the development of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan based on identified needs of the patient and provides appropriate treatment. Knowledge and skill sufficient to access computer for patient care information retrieval or to enter messages for purpose of communication.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, except federal holidays, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with a 30 minute lunch break.
Qualifications:
Valid, current, full and unrestricted medical license from any state, BLS, ACLS, and immunizations
