Job/Practice Description:
The Radiologist must be able to perform fluoro and read approximately 100 exams daily which include but is not limited to CT, Ultrasound and General Radiology. MRI would be helpful but not mandatory. Radiologist shall be available to perform daily fluoro, read exams which include CT, Ultrasound, MRI, and general radiology and must be available to read patient exams on VAMC, Alexandria premises. Number of studies to be read is commensurate with patient exam volume, staffing, and at the discretion of Imaging Service Management. Radiologist must be familiar with all phases of operation of PACS, VistA Rad, Voice Dictation, and teleradiology equipment. They should be able to provide guidance regarding radiation safety issues, satisfy Joint Commission requirements regarding quality assurance, maintenance of current credentials, clinical privileges, peer review and participation in the criteria development as it relates to the requirements of the Imaging Service. Admitted patients, outpatients, and eligible beneficiaries regardless of underlying disease process or physical condition of such patients or beneficiaries. Provide advice and opinions upon request in support of diagnostic interpretations of radiological examinations and procedures as provided in conjunction with patient care and treatment.Interpret emergent or STAT diagnostic studies, via VA supplied dictation system, within 2 hours, unless the Radiologist and requesting staff Radiologist mutually agree on a shorter timeframe.Radiologist shall notify referring healthcare provider of any problematic or unexpected results noted on an exam. This contact with referring healthcare provider must be documented in the impression section of the diagnostic imaging report at time of interpretation.
Work Schedule:
Inpatient/outpatient radiologist services Services are needed five days a week, Monday through Friday. Regular hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal Holidays. The Radiologist may take a 30-minute lunch break during the day
Qualifications:
State License, must be Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology.
