York consists of several villages each known for it's own special charm - 2-mile stretches of white sand and good surfing,or a popular in-town beach with it's amusement park atmosphere. You'll find seaside inns and resorts, plus York Harbor Beach with gentle surf and views of the Atlantic along with the comings and goings of the boats out of the harbor. York has numerous golf courses; foodees will enjoy great seafood restaurants and shops offering Maine made gourmet foods - like Stonewall Kitchen whose flagship store and cooking school are based here. Nature lovers will enjoy Mount Agamenticus, the tallest mountain on the Southern Maine Coast at 692’ above sea level. Great for hikers, mountain bikers, horseback riders, and picnickers making the short hike to the summit for views as far as Boston, Cape Elizabeth, and Mount Washington. York is a year round community, with festivals and family events in every season including the “Lighting of the Nubble” at Christmas time to York’s Harvest Fest in the fall and York Days in the summer.
